چکیده

In this letter, the achievable rate maximization problem is considered for intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) assisted multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems in an underlay spectrum sharing scenario, subject to interference power constraints at primary users. The formulated non-convex optimization challenging solve due its non-convexity as well coupling design variables constraints. Different from existing works that are mostly based on alternating (AO), we propose a penalty dual decomposition gradient projection (PDDGP) algorithm problem. We also provide convergence proof and complexity analysis proposed algorithm. benchmark against two known solutions, namely minimum mean-square error AO inner approximation method with block coordinate descent. Specifically, of grows linearly respect number elements IRS, while methods third IRS elements. Moreover, numerical results show PDDGP yields considerably higher than solutions.

Optimal Precoder Design for Non-Regenerative MIMO Cognitive Two-Way Relay Systems with Underlay Spectrum Sharing

We study the optimal precoder design for a MIMO cognitive two-way relay system with underlay spectrum sharing. The system consists of two secondary users (SUs) and one relay station (RS). We jointly optimize the precoders for SUs and RS with perfect and imperfect channel state information (CSI) between SUs/RS and the primary user, where our design approach is based on the alternate optimization...

Achievable rate maximization for decode-and-forward MIMO–OFDM networks with an energy harvesting relay

This paper investigates the system achievable rate for the multiple-input multiple-output orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) system with an energy harvesting (EH) relay. Firstly we propose two protocols, time switching-based decode-and-forward relaying (TSDFR) and a flexible power splitting-based DF relaying (PSDFR) protocol by considering two practical receiver architecture...

Performance Analysis of cooperative SWIPT System: Intelligent Reflecting Surface versus Decode-and-Forward

In this paper, we explore the impacts of utilizing intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRS) in a power-splitting based simultaneous wireless information and power transfer (PS-SWIPT) system and compare its performance with the traditional decode and forward relaying system. To analyze a more practical system, it is also assumed that the receiving nodes are subject to decoding cost, and they are on...

Spectrum and Energy Efficiency of Uplink Massive MIMO System with D2D Underlay

In this paper, both the spectrum efficiency (SE) and the energy efficiency (EE) are investigated for an uplink massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system coexisting with an underlay device-to-device (D2D) system. The outage probability and the achievable rates of the cellular user equipments (CUEs) and the D2D link are derived in closed-form, respectively. Constrained by the SE of the...

Massive Connectivity with Massive MIMO-Part II: Achievable Rate Characterization

This two-part paper aims to quantify the cost of device activity detection in an uplink massive connectivity scenario with a large number of devices but device activities are sporadic. Part I of this paper shows that in an asymptotic massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) regime, device activity detection can always be made perfect. Part II of this paper subsequently shows that despite t...
